ALBERTA ADAMS
Blues music... |
| Born in Indianapolis in the late '20s, Adams moved to Detroit at a tender age and got her start in the music biz in the 1940s in Detroit's Paradise Valley where the main drag was called Hastings Street. Originally a dancer, she became a singer when the regular vocalist failed to show up. The rest is history. She has toured extensively with Louis Jordan, Eddie 'Cleanhead' Vinson, T-Bone Walker, James Moody and Duke Ellington and recorded extensively particularly in the jump type blues style that is her repertoire today. Alberta Adams - Detroit's Queen of the Blues. |
